Business Department Programs

What modern career doesn't require some knowledge of business? Whether you are working for a large corporation as a professional or working for yourself as an entrepreneur, you will need to know the basics of managing your own finances, using data on spreadsheets and databases, and writing effective documents among other basic business skills. Build your business skills and knowledge by choosing from the following courses:

  • Introduction to Business (BA 101)
  • MS WORD for Business (BT 120)
  • MS EXCEL for Business (BT 114)
  • Team Building Skills (BT 146)
  • Introduction to the Accounting Cycle (BT 165)
  • E-Business Fundamentals (BT 251)

These skills are also the foundation of different Business programs that prepare you for many possible successful careers with earning power. There are also many Career Pathway Certificates available for students wanting a fast-track to a new career or a way to become employable quickly while working toward a higher degree. The Career Pathway Certificate options are listed below their related degree.

  • Accounting: This program starts with basic skills and theoretical knowledge and adds practical problem solving. Start now by taking Team Building Skills or Introduction to the Accounting Cycle.
  • Administrative Assistant: Almost every business in Lane County needs an organized and well-trained Administrative Assistant. Prepare for a fun and versatile career as an office professional. Start now by taking Team Building Skills and MS WORD for Business.
  • Retail Management: This program prepares the student for retail sales and management responsibilities; those who complete the program will be given preference in hiring, will be eligible for promotions, and will receive compensation to recognize their educational achievement. Start now by taking Introduction to Business.
  • Associate of Science, Oregon Transfer Degree: Build a strong foundation for your future education and business career. Obtain a degree with flexibility to transfer your credits to any school in the Oregon University System upon admission. Start now by taking Introduction to Business.
