TIPS FOR SUCCESS: How to select a book...

The books that are on the shelves come from many different sources. Some of the books are brand new from the publisher and some are used books that have been bought back from students or ordered from wholesale companies. Some books are shrink-wrapped but most are not. If possible, it is wise to inspect your books before purchasing them.

  • Check used books for excessive highlighting, writing or damage. If you suspect that a book's highlighting or writing will be distracting to you, don't purchase it.

  • Carefully check new books for damage that may have occurred during shipping and handling. If during your inspection of a new book you find damage, take the book to the text information counter so it can be removed from the shelf.
