Working for you
The Board of Education sees workforce training as a high priority for Lane Community College. It's especially important in a down economy to provide students and citizens with opportunities to train or retrain for a job or career.
The board keeps this in mind
when setting and reviewing college
policies, or making budget decisions.
It's why we support programs like
health care and energy management.
Many people displaced from
struggling industries are now at Lane
training for jobs in these promising
fields.
Lane has a unique role in education
and workforce development. The
college helps people prepare for
a changing market, and provides
business and industry with a trained
and educated workforce.
To keep our fingers on the pulse of local needs, we attend community events and serve on other organizations. These include:
- Lane Foundation
- Lane Council of Governments
- Lane Economic Committee
- Oregon Community College Association
We often meet with local, state and
federal officials to advocate for Lane
and its students. In addition, we
invite different community groups
to join our work sessions and engage
in strategic conversations about the
future of our community. We also
hold Community Conversations
open to the general public.
