Distinguished Alumni:
Nancy
Radcliffe
The first in her family to graduate from college, Nancy Radcliffe chose to start at Lane Community College because of smaller class sizes and personal faculty attention.
She studied accounting and earned a transfer degree, then went on to complete an MBA at the University of Oregon.
When Nancy entered accounting, it was unusual for women to do so. Nonetheless, Standard Oil of California hired her right out of college. She became the first woman in their management training program, their first woman auditor, and the first woman allowed on their offshore rig. But she missed Oregon and returned to work at Tektronix in Portland. Then she met and married Al and moved back to Eugene.
Here, she has been business manager for the Hult Center, controller for the YMCA, controller for the Educational Policy Improvement Center at the UO, and a consultant for defense attorneys and small businesses.
She has been a strong volunteer in education including
PTA president, 4J district curriculum committees, Volunteer
of the Year for the South Eugene High School Career
Center, Credit Abuse Resistance Education financial literacy
program for high school seniors, United Way, Women in
Philanthropy, and of course, Lane. She has supported our
students with generous financial gifts for nearly 10 years.
Lane Community College is proud to recognize Nancy Radcliffe as one of our Distinguished Alumni for 2010.
