Job Description

4-Year Program – License A: Install, maintain, replace and repair electrical systems and equipment of under 100 volt-amperes, such as intrusion/burglar alarms, fire systems, closed circuit TV’s and much more.

2-Year Program – License B: Install and maintain data telecommunications, protective signaling and much more.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of high school algebra with a grade of ‘C’ or better (or equivalent)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Local apprenticeship committee may require additional qualifications.

Working Conditions
Limited energy technicians work indoors and outdoors. The work may require standing, bending and reaching in cold and wet conditions, and working either in confined crawl spaces or at heights.

Minimum Rate of Pay
License A: $19.12 per hour
License B: $18.06 per hour

Related Training
Training is attained with an emphasis on correspondence work. In addition, both class A and B license apprentices are required to attend three Saturday class sessions for each term of enrollment. Class A represents a 792 hour commitment over a period of four years and class B represents a 396 hour commitment over a period of two years.
