Fast Track Automotive
Lane Community College has
partnered with Lane County new car
dealers to provide this accelerated
automotive service technician
training. Fast Track students will
attend Lane for three terms (33
weeks), eight hours per day, four days
per week. Students will spend an
additional one day per week working
at a sponsor’s service shop.
The instructors are Lane Community
College credit faculty. Students will
earn 60 college credits towards an
Associate of Applied Science degree
in Automotive Technology. Students
may continue their advanced
training at Lane or at the automotive
manufacturers’ schools.

Working with Sponsors
Fast Track students may be sponsored by one of Lane County’s new car dealers. Sponsors will pay $5,000 towards the student’s costs. Students may also be employed by the sponsor during this training. Sponsored students must be drug- free and possess a valid driver’s license. Sponsors may provide additional training and employment opportunities.
What you will Learn
Fast Track students will receive training in the following ASE certification areas: Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/ Transaxle, Manual Drivetrain and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Brakes, Electrical/ Electronic Systems, Heating and Air Conditioning and Engine Performance. The instructional methods will include small-group instruction, computer-assisted learning, automotive system simulators, hands-on shop projects and on-the-job work experience.
Cost
Fast Track Training.........$10,000
All books and course materials are included. Students will be responsible for their own tools and living and travel expenses. Financial assistance may be available to eligible students:
Dealer Financial Sponsorships.........$ 5,000
Lane Workforce Partnership Scholarships.........(up to) $ 3,000
A student would pay $2,000 of the $10,000 cost if selected for a dealer sponsorship, and, if eligible and awarded a full Lane Workforce Partnership scholarship. Students may also qualify for college financial aid.
