Resources for Transitioning to Credit Classes

In addition to our college preparation classes, ABSE has several resources available to help you transition to college classes once you’re academically ready.

Graduates of our GED preparation classes are eligible to apply for a 6-credit Tuition Waiver. To receive the waiver students must:

  • Attend Lane’s GED Preparation program at least 25 hours over the course of a 10-week period and complete pre- and post-testing
  • Complete the GED in English or Spanish
  • Complete a college preparation class at Lane Community College
  • Score at least 68 on Lane's reading college placement test
  • Meet with an Academic Advisor to complete an Academic Plan
  • Complete the GED Tuition Waiver Application *(.pdf) and submit it for consideration within 3 terms of completing the GED

The William & Betty Forest Scholarships, ABSE Shining Star Scholarship, and Register Guard Scholarship are available to outstanding GED preparation and Core College Connection students. Applications are available in Winter term each year. Contact your ABSE instructor or Gail Hemsoth (541) 463-4214 for more information on applying for these scholarships.
