Meeting Minutes
March 10, 2005

Introductions: Gloria Vanderhorst, Paula Sena, Laura Martin, Jane Irwin, Helen Mikkelsen, Lynn Philips, Dorothy Lauritzen, Shirley Lukacs, Donna Zmolek and Jackie Bryson.
Old Business:
- Art Museum: About 12 or more AAWCC members and friends visited the U. of O. Jordan Schnitzer Art Museum on March 9th after work. The museum is beautiful. Mirian Jordan had scheduled to meet us at the museum, but unfortunately mixed the dates and she was out of town. She wants to extend her most sincere apologies. She hopes we can schedule another visit again. We plan to do just that.
New Business:
- Amber's Request-Donna:
Our scholarship recipient, Amber, requested financial help for the hotel expense to attend a leadership conference for dental hygiene. The group voted to give her $200 from the general fund to help cover her costs.
- Strong Women Live Well Workshop Planning-Son Le:
Discussion was tabled until next meeting.
- Scholarship Committee-Donna:
It is time to review scholarship applications for the 2005-2006 school year. The committee to select the recipient for the AAWCC leadership award is Helen Mikkelsen, Shirley Lukacs, Donna Zmolek, Siv Barnum, and Jackie Bryson. If you are interested contact Donna.
- State AAWCC Business-Donna:
Donna will put together an article about our chapter for the AAWCC newsletter. Please check it out at www.aawccoregon.org. She will mention our new website www.lanecc.edu/aawcc/ created by Son Le. Increase in our membership, La Doc and Bhutan slide show, our Tracy Simms won the statewide Excellence Award at the AAWCC state conference, movie night at Shirley's, "Iron Jawed Ladies" and of course the museum visit.
- Board Meeting Planning Session-Jackie:
The board will set time and place via email.
- Fun Plans-Movies-Discussion followed about possible movie selections for fun outings! "Travelers and Magicians" a film from Bhutan will be shown sometime in March at the Bijou. One of the first films made in Bhutan!
- Focus of AAWCC-Group
Discussion followed as to how to be more effective supporting and helping women on campus. Mentorship was discussed- Laura Martin will look into creating an effective structure to work with other women.
